I struggle to come up with what to post on social media. How do I get started?

One of the biggest challenges that will get in the way of posting regularly and seeing a solid ROI of your time investment is a lack of accountability. To get over this speed bump, consider sharing the burden of writing posts with your team. Below is an example weekly calendar outlining a week of possible social posts. Have each team member take on one of the social posts outlined below and create a sense of accountability around following through. Happy posting!

Weekly Social Media Calendar

How do I write a great social post to go along with my cards? Great social posts come from the heart. They don’t have to be long--only a few sentences will do. If you’re sharing a card, say something about why you’re sharing it:
  • Is the topic important to you?
  • How has the topic affected your clients/industry?
  • Why is it important for others to know about it?
  • What can you offer to help your audience address the topic?
  • Who in your audience might be interested in the topic personally? Tag them in the post to share their opinion.
  • Does the topic remind you of a lesson or story your audience might find insightful? Share it!
How can I use my cards to start conversations with prospects? Each campaign addresses a challenge employers face when it comes to employee benefits. This creates an opportunity for you to educate your audience about the challenges they face while setting yourself up as an authority on the issue. When you make a social post, consider how you can encourage others to engage with it:
  • Try asking questions, such as, “When employees struggle to understand their benefits, it negatively impacts their health and your benefits spend. What are strategies you’ve used that have helped you better equip your employees to become strategic healthcare consumers?”
  • Try offering help, such as, “When employees struggle to understand their benefits, it negatively impacts their health and your benefits spend. Reach out to us to learn how we can help you better equip your employees to become strategic healthcare consumers.
  • Try promoting a service you offer that helps employers address the challenge: “When employees struggle to understand their benefits, it negatively impacts both their health and your benefits spend. With our employee benefits communication plan, we can help you empower your employees to become strategic healthcare consumers, saving you money, and protecting their health and wellbeing.”
  • Have Zywave, HR360, or Mineral? Find a relevant ebook, guide, or checklist to offer your audience that goes along with the campaign. Encourage your audience to reach out to a rep to get a copy of the document. Then use that interaction to follow up with prospects who have received a copy. Talk to your Account Manager at Q4i to see how we can help with this.
How often should I post? You can post anywhere from twice a week to twice a day. It's important not to set expectations for yourself that aren't reasonable. If you never post on social media, set a goal to start off sharing a post a couple of times a week.
